John Paul II Catholic scored the most points they've had all season to find success. They took their contest on the road with ease, bagging a 84-32 victory over Epiphany. The win was just what John Paul II Catholic needed coming off of a 80-54 defeat in their prior matchup.
John Paul II Catholic got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Kyle Watkins out in front who scored 19 points. Jamal Biggs was another key contributor, scoring 15 points along with five assists and five rebounds.
Meanwhile, Coastal Christian's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their fourth straight loss. They were outmatched by South Mecklenburg on the road and fell 79-33. While losing is never fun, Coastal Christian can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 251st, while South Mecklenburg is ranked 28th).
John Paul II Catholic's victory bumped their record up to 5-9. As for Coastal Christian, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost nine of their last ten matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-11 record this season.
