Softball Recap: Spearfish Comes Up Short

Spearfish was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They lost 11-0 to the Brookings Bobcats. The Spartans were not able to make up for their loss to the Bobcats from their previous meeting back in May of 2024.

Spearfish saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Danika Brown, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base. That stolen base marked the first that Brown has snagged this season.

Spearfish's defeat dropped their record down to 1-7. As for Brookings, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-4 record this season.

Spearfish has already played their next contest, an 11-10 victory against Yankton on the 10th. Brookings has also already played their next game (against Stevens), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
