Softball Recap: Kelso Gets the Win

Kelso hadn't done well against Prairie recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Hilanders won by a run and slipped past the Falcons 3-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Hilanders have posted since May 18, 2024.

Kylie Killett tossed a big game, tossing six innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Kalli Carter was excellent, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-2. Peyton Champagne also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

Kelso's victory bumped their record up to 6-4. As for Prairie, their record now sits at an identical 6-4.

Looking ahead, Kelso will venture away from home to challenge Mountain View at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Hilanders' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Thunder have averaged an impressive 7.4 runs per game this season. As for Prairie, they didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 6-2 win against Battle Ground on the 16th.
