Two dominant backs in Braylon Thompson and Sam Trantham are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Brevard Blue Devils will head out to face off against the Tuscola Mountaineers at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Brevard knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 31 points or more in their past eight contests -- so hopefully Tuscola likes a good challenge.

On Friday, Brevard strolled past West Henderson with points to spare, taking the game 41-27.

A big part of Brevard's win came down to the chemistry between Chrstian Conley and his top target Tristan Thompson-Wynn. Conley threw for 267 yards and four TDs while completing 73.7% of his passes while Thompson-Wynn picked up 180 receiving yards and three scores. Those 267 passing yards gave Conley a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Akai Agyapon, who rushed for 47 yards and one touchdown.

Brevard was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 247 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 209 rushing yards in four consecutive games.

Meanwhile, Tuscola played a tough matchup last Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They came up short against Pisgah, falling 35-14. The Mountaineers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Although Tuscola took the loss, they still got scores from Trantham and Ty Walker.

Brevard pushed their record up to 8-0 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. As for Tuscola, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-4.

Friday's contest might be decided on the ground. Brevard has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 219.4 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Tuscola struggles in that department as they've been averaging 150 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's game turns into a tough fight on the ground.

Brevard took a serious blow against Tuscola in their previous matchup back in September of 2016, falling 42-6. Thankfully for the Blue Devils, Caleb Ferguson (who rushed for 162 yards and a pair of TDs on only 13 carries) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
