Basketball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Trinity Jones and Zaire 'Cherri' Hatter Lead Desert Vista to Victory

Desert Vista extended their postseason success on Thursday against Gilbert. They had just enough and edged out the Gilbert Tigers 42-40. The victory continues a trend for the Thunder in their matchups with the Tigers: they've now won five in a row.

Leading Desert Vista to victory were Zaire 'Cherri' Hatter and Trinity Jones. Hatter went 9-for-13 on her way to 18 points and five rebounds, while Jones went 7-for-11 to rack up 17 points in addition to six assists and six boards. The contest was Jones' third in a row with at least 16 points.

When it comes to explaining why Gilbert lost, don't look at Isabella Ivy. Despite the final result, she posted 18 points along with seven rebounds and three steals. Another player making a difference was Aspen McClees, who almost dropped a double-double with nine points and nine boards.

Desert Vista's win bumped their record up to 15-12. As for Gilbert, they suffered their first home loss, dropping their record down to 21-7.

Coming up, Desert Vista will face off against Sunnyslope at 7:00 p.m. on February 27th. Sunnyslope is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 60 points per game this season. Gilbert does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
