Recap: Ridge View Blazers vs. Westwood Redhawks
The Ridge View Blazers entered their tilt with the Westwood Redhawks with five consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with six. Ridge View walked away with a 49-39 win over Westwood on Friday. That's another feather in the cap for Ridge View, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Ridge View got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Sian Banks out in front who scored eight points along with six steals and five assists. Another player making a difference was Destiny Drakeford, who scored eight points along with ten rebounds and four blocks.
When it comes to explaining why Westwood lost, one person who can't be blamed is Makiah Thompson. Despite the final result, she scored 18 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Teoni Cummings, who scored four points.
Ridge View has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 16-8 record this season. As for Westwood, their loss dropped their record down to 15-9.
Ridge View will be playing in front of their home fans against Richland Northeast at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Ridge View is coming into the contest with six straight victories at home, so Richland Northeast is out to stop a squad with plenty of momentum. As for Westwood, they will head out on the road to square off against Irmo at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Irmo focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 34 on Friday.
