Volleyball Recap: Griswold Takes Loss Despite Strong Efforts from Carly Rubino and Maryn Austin + How To Watch

After flying high against Wheeler on Friday, Griswold came back down to earth. The Wolverines fell just short of the Plainfield Panthers by a score of 3-2 on Monday. The Wolverines were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Panthers earlier this season, when they won 3-0.

Griswold was was forced to take the loss, but they sure made Plainfield work for it, especially in the first set. The final score came out to 27-25, 25-16, 20-25, 21-25, 17-15.

Griswold's loss came despite strong showings from Maryn Austin and Carly Rubino. Austin had 11 digs and one assist, while Rubino had 31 digs and two assists.

Plainfield had a senior duo take command as Shae Valentin had 49 digs and Paige Sears had 48 assists and 14 digs. Those 48 assists set a new season-high mark for Sears.

Griswold's loss dropped their record down to 6-5. As for Plainfield, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 7-5 record this season.

Griswold will host Bacon Academy at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Plainfield, they are taking a road trip to square off against Montville at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
