Basketball Game Preview: Sage Ridge Scorpions vs. Smith Valley Bulldogs

Sage Ridge and Smith Valley are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2018, but not for long. The Sage Ridge Scorpions will host the Smith Valley Bulldogs at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Sage Ridge is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 50.9 points per game this season.

Last Tuesday, Sage Ridge had to suffer through a 64-33 loss at the hands of Virginia City. The Scorpions haven't had much luck with the Muckers recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.

The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Taylor Sullins, who posted eight points.

Meanwhile, Smith Valley had already won 15 in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 28.1 points) and they went ahead and made it 16 on Tuesday. They strolled past the Serpents with points to spare, taking the game 71-54. 71 seems to be a good number for the Bulldogs as the squad scooped up a victory with the same number of points in their previous game.

Smith Valley's win was their eighth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 18-1. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 32.4 points. As for Sage Ridge, they now have a losing record at 7-8.
