Softball Recap: Cooper Takes a Loss

Cooper was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 14-4 to the Wolfe City Wolves, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior. The Bulldogs were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Wolves apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.

Halle Toon was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring a run while going 4-for-4. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. Alyssa McCarty was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3.

Toon wasn't the only one working in the hit department: Cooper kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That's a new trend for Cooper: they were averaging 4.6 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 matchups they've averaged 9.

Cooper's loss dropped their record down to 2-8. As for Wolfe City, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 13-7.

While Cooper had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
