Baseball Recap: Victory Christian Academy Comes Up Short

After flying high against Discovery last Tuesday, Victory Christian Academy came back down to earth. The Storm lost 13-3 to the Lakeland Christian Vikings on Friday. The Storm have struggled against the Vikings recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost meeting.

Victory Christian Academy saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Cru Slocum, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run and two RBI. That home run was Slocum's first of the season. Collin Strickland was another, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.

Victory Christian Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 13-7. As for Lakeland Christian, they have been performing well recently as they've won 11 of their last 14 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-6 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Victory Christian Academy will host Lake Wales at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. The last three games the Highlanders have played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one. As for Lakeland Christian, they will look to defend their home field on Monday against George Jenkins at 7:00 p.m. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Vikings 2.6, the Eagles 2) so any runs scored will be well earned.
