Baseball Recap: Silver Takes a Loss

Silver extended their losing streak to seven on Thursday, dropping them down to 8-12. They lost 17-6 to the Deming Wildcats. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Wildcats this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 9-1 on Monday.

Silver saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Mathew Diaz, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with one triple, one stolen base, and one run. That triple marked the first that Diaz has hit this season. Urijah Arrey was another, going 2-for-3 with two runs and two doubles.

As for Deming, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 13 of their last 14 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-3 record this season. Considering they have won 14 games by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

On Deming's side, they let Max Allison and Chris Olvera run wild. Allison went 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI, while Olvera went 3-for-4 with four RBI, two doubles, and one triple. Those three hits gave Olvera a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Daniel Porras, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Deming beat Silver by a score of 13-2 later that day.
