Basketball Recap: Beatrice Takes a Loss

Beatrice was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss. They took a 45-38 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Ralston Rams. The Orangemen were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Rams apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in January of 2024.

It was another big night for Lamar Rucker, who went 7 for 9 en route to 16 points and six rebounds for Ralston. Henry Fries also deserves some recognition as he posted his first block of the season.

Beatrice's loss dropped their record down to 2-11. As for Ralston, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a massive bump to their 6-8 record this season.

Beatrice and Ralston could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Nebraska Rankings. Beatrice (ranked 203rd) will meet Norris (ranked second) at 7:30 p.m. on February 4th. Meanwhile, Ralston will square off against Ashland-Greenwood at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday down 104 places (143 vs. 39).
