Winning always takes teamwork, but on Tuesday Kade Lawler stepped things up a notch to give Purvis the 'W'. Lawler struck out seven batters over four innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off six hits. The performance marked the most strikeouts he has had since back in March of 2024.

Lawler's strong effort led Purvis over Sumrall and he'll get a chance to do so again: the teams have a rematch scheduled at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. The two teams are at an even 5-5 against one another since May of 2023, but likely not for long.
