Softball Recap: Oscoda Comes Up Short

Oscoda extended their losing streak to three on Monday, dropping them down to 3-4. They lost 14-8 to the Rogers City Hurons. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Hurons this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 11-0 on Monday.

Emma Michaud made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played. Luella Whipkey was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

As for Rogers City, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-2. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five matchups by six runs or more this season.

On Rogers City's side, the team relied heavily on Natalie Crawford, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, four runs, and three RBI. With that strong performance, Crawford is now averaging an impressive 2.3 runs per game. Another player making a difference was Jezebel Kortman, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run.

Coming up, Oscoda will be playing in front of their home fans against Tawas Area at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Braves have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 10.38 runs per game on average), something the Owls will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Rogers City, they will face off against Atlanta at 4:00 p.m. on May 7.
