Baseball Recap: Auburn's Win on Friday Extends Winning Streak to Four

With a playoff win on the line, Auburn rose to the challenge on Friday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Bryant Hurricanes a 10-0 shutout. Winning may never get old, but the Tigers sure are getting used to it with their fourth in a row.

Will Whatley made a splash while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 11 over six innings pitched. Those 11 strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with one RBI.

In other batting news, Angelo Santiago was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, seven RBI, and two runs. Those seven RBI gave him a new career-high. Weston Luther was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two runs and two doubles.

Auburn always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .531. They are a perfect 6-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Auburn's victory bumped their record up to 19-15. As for Bryant, the loss snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 21-12 record.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: the Hurricanes beat Auburn by a score of 4-3 later that day.
