Baseball Game Preview: Taft Tigers vs. Scio Loggers

For the second straight game, Taft will face off against Scio. The Tigers will welcome the Loggers at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Taft is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7 runs per game this season.

On Wednesday, Taft made easy work of Scio and carried off a 9-1 victory. The win continues a trend for the Tigers in their matchups with the Loggers: they've now won eight in a row.

Lonnie West was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out 17 over six innings pitched. Those 17 strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-5 with two doubles.

In other batting news, Hunter Hanson was excellent, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March. Zack Hankins was another key player, going 1-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.

Taft's victory bumped their record up to 26-2. As for Scio, they moved to 11-18 with that defeat, which also ended their five-game winning streak.
