Baseball Recap: White House-Heritage Comes Up Short

White House-Heritage extended their losing streak to three on Saturday, dropping their season record down to 17-8 in the process. They came up short against the Friendship Christian Commanders, falling 15-4. The pitching woes were uncharacteristic for the Patriots, who until this game were averaging 3.72 runs allowed.

White House-Heritage got a good showing from Ryan Greer, who pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. The dominant performance also gave Greer a new career-low in walks (zero).

At the plate, White House-Heritage saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Justin Smith, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.

As for Friendship Christian, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 13-12-1. Considering they have won 11 contests by more than five runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

On Friendship Christian's side, Garrett Taylor looked comfortable as he tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Taylor has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Caleb Kring was excellent, going 1-for-4 with one home run. Friendship Christian is 3-1 when Kring posts one or more home runs, but 10-11-1 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Luke Sellars, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

Looking ahead, White House-Heritage will venture away from home to take on Pope John Paul II at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The Knights have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 9.85 runs per game on average), something the Patriots will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Friendship Christian, they will face off against Davidson Academy at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. The Commanders will need to watch out since the Bears have now posted at least ten runs in their last four matchups.
