Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Taylorville). They blew past the Charleston Trojans 57-14 on Friday. The matchup was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point the Tornadoes had established a 36-point advantage.

Taylorville got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Spencer Brown out in front who rushed for 112 yards and one touchdown on only nine carries. Those 112 rushing yards gave Brown a new career-high. Blake Ladage was another key pass catcher, picking up 82 receiving yards and a pair of scores.

The victory was the third in a row for Taylorville, bringing their record up to 4-3. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 45.0 points over those games. As for Charleston, they dropped their record down to 1-6 with the loss, which was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season.

Taylorville and Charleston could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Illinois Rankings. The Tornadoes will square off against Mt. Zion at 7:00 p.m. on Friday with a big rank disadvantage (233 vs. 60). Meanwhile, Charleston (ranked 373rd) will meet Mahomet-Seymour (ranked 83rd) at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
