Basketball Game Preview: Aptos Mariners vs. Wilcox Chargers

The Aptos Mariners are taking a road trip to face off against the Wilcox Chargers at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday.

Aptos is probably headed into the contest with a chip on their shoulder considering Carmel just ended the team's three-game winning streak on Thursday. They fell just short of the Padres by a score of 50-48. The game marked the Mariners' lowest-scoring match so far this season.

Meanwhile, Wilcox came tearing into Saturday's contest with five straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 10 points) and they left with even more momentum. They came out on top against the Eagles by a score of 56-45. While the Chargers didn't have the best season last year (they finished 11-15), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Wilcox's victory bumped their record up to 7-1. As for Aptos, their loss dropped their record down to 9-4.

Aptos came up short against Wilcox in their previous meeting back in December of 2023, falling 65-58. Can Aptos avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
