Softball Game Preview: Caledonia Cavaliers vs. Louisville Wildcats

Caledonia is preparing for their first district matchup of the season on Tuesday. They will host the Louisville Wildcats at 6:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

On Friday, Caledonia needed a bit of extra time to put away South Pontotoc. Everything went their way against the Cougars as they made off with a 9-3 victory. Nine seems to be a good number for the Cavaliers as the team scooped up a win with the same number of runs in their previous game.

While Louisville didn't have the best season last year (they finished 7-12), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They put the hurt on Kemper County with a sharp 20-5 victory on Monday. The win made it back-to-back victories for Louisville.

Louisville let Sakenya Glenn and Re'Niya Savior run wild. Glenn went a perfect 3-for-3 with five RBI, three doubles, and two runs, while Savior scored four runs and stole Four bases. while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. Those three doubles gave Glenn a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Ker'rhianna Parker, who scored two runs and stole Two bases. while going 3-for-4.

The win (which was Caledonia's third in a row) raised their record to 11-3. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.7 runs over those games. As for Louisville, their victory bumped their record up to 8-4-1.

Caledonia took their win against Louisville in their previous meeting back in March of 2024 by a conclusive 12-0. Does Caledonia have another victory up their sleeve, or will Louisville turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
