Baseball Recap: Wagoner Comes Up Short

If Wagoner was feeling good fresh off their 11-3 takedown of Inola on Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Bulldogs came up short against the Muskogee Roughers on Thursday, falling 10-4. The Bulldogs haven't had much luck with the Roughers recently, as the team has come up short the last five times they've met.

Stavery James was cooking despite his team's loss, going 3-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI. He has become a key player for Wagoner: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least three hits, but 7-8 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Karson Klinger, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one run.

Wagoner's record now sits at 9-9. As for Muskogee, they moved to 10-16 with that win, which also ended their four-game losing streak.

Looking ahead, Wagoner will face off against Miami at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Muskogee, they will challenge Dewey at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The Roughers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Bulldoggers have averaged an impressive 6.7 runs per game this season.
