Basketball Recap: Mt. Olive's Win Ends Ten-Game Losing Streak at Home

Mt. Olive came into Tuesday's game having lost seven straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They strolled past First Baptist Academy with points to spare on Tuesday, taking the game 58-44. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 49-48 back in December of 2024.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Mt. Olive to victory, but perhaps none more so than David Schoen, who went 5 of 11 en route to 14 points and eight rebounds. Schoen has been hot recently, having posted eight or more boards the last three times he's played. Another player making a difference was Matthew Bywater, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 11 rebounds.

Mt. Olive's victory ended a ten-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 5-16. As for First Baptist Academy, their defeat was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 10-12.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Mt. Olive and Litchfield will face off at 7:15 p.m. on Wednesday without much rest having both just played. As for First Baptist Academy, they will head out to face off against Westfair Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Westfair Christian is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 51.4 points per game this season.
