Softball Game Preview: Oakland Oakers vs. North Douglas

Oakland hasn't had much luck against North Douglas recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Oakers will take on North Douglas at 4:30 p.m. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Oakland 4, North Douglas 4.1) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Oakland easily dispatched Yoncalla on Friday, but unfortunately both the margin and the ultimate result were a different story in this one. The Oakers fell just short of Illinois Valley by a score of 8-6 on Monday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Oakers have suffered since May 1, 2024.

Ella Whittaker was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs and two doubles. Another player making a difference was Teagan Fauver, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Meanwhile, North Douglas waltzed into their contest on Monday with six straight wins... but they left with seven. They were the clear victors by a 12-1 margin over the Devils. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since April 5, 2024, but that streak is no more.

North Douglas' win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 16-2. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Oakland, their loss dropped their record down to 14-6.
