Volleyball Recap: Rifle Bears vs. Palisade Bulldogs

Rifle was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their tenth straight loss. They took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Palisade Bulldogs. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Bears of the 3-0 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in October of 2019.

Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-3, 25-16.

Jaelyn Alcantar paced Rifle's offense, picking up three kills. Alcantar got some help from Katelynn Rider and her seven assists.

Palisade was led to victory by Braeleigh MacAskill and Elizabeth Snover. MacAskill had 20 assists, while Snover had six aces. MacAskill has been hot for a while, having posted 13 or more assists the last 48 times she's played.

Rifle's loss dropped their record down to 2-18. As for Palisade, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 17-3.

Rifle will be taking part in a tournament against Battle Mountain at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Battle Mountain is coming into the game with nine straight wins on the road, so Rifle will have to stop a squad with plenty of momentum. As for Palisade, they will take on Valley in a tournament on Friday.
