The Sierra Chieftains will face off against the Fresno Christian Eagle at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Sierra is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7 runs per game this season.
Sierra is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 13 runs on Friday, they were much more limited against Yosemite on Friday. They came up short against the Badgers, falling 8-2. Chieftains fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team has lost against the Badgers since Friday.
Sierra saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Leo Oliver, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Fresno Christian never let their opponents score on Monday. Everything went their way against Kings Christian as they made off with a 9-0 victory. The win continues a trend for the Eagle in their matchups with the Crusaders: they've now won seven in a row.
Jonas Maxey made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 14 over seven innings pitched. Those 14 strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-5 with two runs and one RBI.
In other batting news, Fresno Christian let Trent Marthedal and Ben Dias run wild. Marthedal went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double, while Dias went 1-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base. Fresno Christian is 2-1 when Dias posts two or more runs, but 3-17 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Preston Feher-Larsen, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Fresno Christian hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Kings Christian struck out 14 times.
Fresno Christian's victory bumped their record up to 5-18. As for Sierra, their defeat was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 17-6.
Sierra came out on top in a nail-biter against Fresno Christian when the teams last played back in May of 2025, sneaking past 8-7. Do the Chieftains have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Eagle turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
