The Westlake Academy Blacksmiths and the Fort Bend Chargers HomeSchool Chargers squared off in some playoff action on Saturday, but sadly the Westlake Academy Blacksmiths had to settle for second. Their rough 76-50 defeat to the Chargers might stick with them for a while. Westlake Academy's loss signaled the end of their six-game winning streak.
Westlake Academy's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Grant Flowers, who gained 135 total yards and three touchdowns, and Nicolas Sansone who threw for 240 yards and four touchdowns. Another player making a difference was Preston Colby , who picked up 60 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Fort Bend Chargers HomeSchool was led to victory by Elijah Sprinkle and Payton Burke. Sprinkle threw for 244 yards and six touchdowns, while Burke gained 394 total yards and four touchdowns. The team also got some help courtesy of Cooper Manz, who picked up 75 receiving yards and three touchdowns.
Westlake Academy's loss dropped their record down to 6-4. As for Fort Bend Chargers HomeSchool, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine games, which provided a nice bump to their 10-2 record this season.
Westlake Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Fort Bend Chargers HomeSchool will take on Gloria Deo Academy at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Gloria Deo Academy is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
