Basketball Recap: Affton Cougars vs. Riverview Gardens Rams
The Affton Cougars came tearing into Monday's game with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 13.7 points) and they left with even more momentum. They skirted past Riverview Gardens 45-42. That's another feather in the cap for Affton, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Affton's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Amelia Wilson led the charge by scoring 16 points along with eight rebounds and six steals. Wilson has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last four times she's played. Emma Grana was another key contributor, scoring 16 points.
Affton pushed their record up to 9-9 with that win, which was their fourth straight at home. As for Riverview Gardens, they are on a 11-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-12.
