Basketball Recap: Jonesboro's Victory on Tuesday Extends Winning Streak to Three

Jonesboro won against Mt. Zion last Saturday with 42 points and they decided to stick to that point total again on Tuesday. The Jonesboro Cardinals managed a 42-36 victory over the Mundy's Mill Tigers. Winning may never get old, but the Cardinals sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.

Jonesboro's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Janiya Hulett, who posted eight points. Brianna Mason was another key player, putting up seven points.

Mundy's Mill's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Casey Owens, who went 5 of 9 on her way to 16 points and four steals, and Amera Steadmon, who put up 11 points along with five rebounds and three steals. The dominant performance gave Owens a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Katelynn Owens, who had two points in addition to eight rebounds and three steals.

Jonesboro's record now sits at 3-1. As for Mundy's Mill, their loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 4-2.

Jonesboro wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 55-29 win against Tucker on the 10th. As for Mundy's Mill, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 37-22 defeat against East Coweta on the 5th.
