With a playoff win on the line, Mt. Vernon rose to the challenge on Tuesday. They walked away with a 47-38 victory over the Effingham Hearts. Winning may never get old, but the Rams sure are getting used to it with their 13th in a row.

Kamaree Pollard was her usual excellent self, putting up 16 points. Her evening made it three games in a row in which she has scored at least 16 points.

Mt. Vernon's win bumped their record up to 28-3. As for Effingham, their defeat dropped their record down to 25-8.

Coming up, Mt. Vernon will take on Marion at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Marion knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past six matchups -- so hopefully Mt. Vernon likes a good challenge. Effingham does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
