Basketball Recap: Southwestern Picks Up Ninth Straight Win at Home

Southwestern won the last time they faced Salamanca and things went their way on Monday too. The Southwestern Trojans secured a 51-45 W over the Salamanca Warriors. Given the Trojans' advantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 147th, while the Warriors are ranked 330th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Several Warriors players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Leilene Mccomber, who almost dropped a double-double on 18 points and nine boards. Mccomber has been hot, having also posted two or more steals the last six times she's played. Madisyn Lafferty was another key player, putting up five points and seven rebounds.

Southwestern's victory was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 5-1. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 66.4 points per game. As for Salamanca, their loss dropped their record down to 9-6.
