Basketball Recap: Waldron Takes a Loss

Waldron lost against Lenawee Christian back in March of 2022, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Waldron Spartans came up short against the Lenawee Christian Cougars, falling 61-37. While losing is never fun, the Spartans can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 475th, while the Cougars are ranked 138th).

Lenawee Christian's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jaxon Salenbien led the charge by going 10-for-17 en route to 23 points and three steals. The game was Salenbien's 23rd in a row with at least 15 points. Another player making a difference was Aidan Kaulins, who posted 12 points in addition to seven rebounds and three steals.

Waldron's loss dropped their record down to 19-7. As for Lenawee Christian, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 21-4.

Waldron does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Lenawee Christian, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 64-54 victory against Concord on the 6th.
