Softball Game Preview: Delhi Bears vs. St. Frederick Warriors

Delhi is 0-8 against St. Frederick since March of 2016 but things could change on Thursday. The Bears will look to defend their home field against the Warriors at 5:30 p.m. Delhi has given up an average of 16.7 runs per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Delhi is headed into Thursday's game looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their seventh straight game dating back to last season on Tuesday. They came up short against Delta Charter, falling 15-0.

Meanwhile, St. Frederick had already won two in a row and they went ahead and made it three on Tuesday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Bears a 15-0 shutout. The Warriors might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 13 matches by nine runs or more this season.

Abigail Creighton made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Creighton was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with two RBI and one double.

In other batting news, Kyndall Taylor and Megan Day did most of the damage at the plate: Taylor went 2-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs, while Day went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Those four RBI gave Day a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Avery Houser, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one home run and two RBI.

Delhi's defeat dropped their record down to 0-6. As for St. Frederick, their win bumped their record up to 17-5.
