Fans got a thrill when Danny Maranda and Nico Ramos* connected against Fitch. The connection went for 91 yards, the longest such play in Eastern Connecticut - Large this season.
Orinn Parke* of New London ran for the longest rushing play in the league this season against the Falcons last week. Parke* ran for 95 yards on the play and finished with 169 on the day as his team topped Fitch.
New London's offense was unstoppable this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Maranda threw for 130 and 2 touchdowns and Ramos* had 98 yards receiving. On the ground Parke* chipped in 169 yards. Jose Garcia* helped New London's passing attack out by catching 3 balls for 24 yards.
Garcia* was a key player and the best on defense this week as Duane Maranda's team bested Jordan Pannucci's team. He recorded 1 fumble.
Alex Beaudreault was a passing and rushing force as Norwich Free Academy topped East Lyme. He completed 7 passes for 120 yards and also ran for 54 yards. Beaudreault's key target this week was Marcus Outlow, who caught 2 passes for 43 yards.
Parke* was the most successful running back in the league this week. J Rivera also contributed to the rushing game with 12 yards on the ground.
New London's offense cannot be tamed this season and the Whalers feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Maranda has thrown for 1,170 yards and 17 touchdowns this season, while Garcia* has 25 catches for 461 yards.
Adding to the longest winning streak in Eastern Connecticut - Large this week, the Wildcats beat the Vikings 49-21. The win marks fourth in a row for the Norwich Free Academy.
