Basketball Game Preview: Buena Vista Bison vs. Gross Catholic Cougars

The Buena Vista Bison will square off against the Gross Catholic Cougars at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Buena Vista is coming into the game on a six-game losing streak.

Buena Vista is headed into the matchup out to prove that what happened against Bishop Neumann on Tuesday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Buena Vista had to suffer through a 53-23 loss at the hands of Bishop Neumann. While losing is never fun, the Bison can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 225th, while the Cavaliers are ranked 54th).

Meanwhile, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Gross Catholic beat Mercy 66-61 on Thursday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Cougars.

Gross Catholic's victory was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 9-2. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.2 points per game. As for Buena Vista, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-11.
