Softball Game Preview: Gautier Gators vs. Wayne County War Eagles

For the second straight game, Gautier will face off against Wayne County. The Gators will be playing at home against the War Eagles at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Gautier is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.3 runs per game this season.

Gautier is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 17 runs on Tuesday, they were much more limited against Wayne County on Thursday. They fell just short of the War Eagles by a score of 4-2. The Gators haven't had much luck with the War Eagles recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.

For Wayne County's part, the team relied heavily on Olivia Sims, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Annah Carr, who scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in two of her three plate appearances.

Wayne County hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Gautier struck out eight times.

Gautier's loss dropped their record down to 9-12. As for Wayne County, they moved to 7-17-1 with that victory, which also ended their four-game losing streak.
