Baseball Game Preview: Newton Tigers vs. Taylorsville Tartars

The Newton Tigers will be defending their home field for the first time this season when they go up against the Taylorsville Tartars at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Newton is coming into the contest on a 19-game losing streak dating back to last season.

Newton came up short against Leake County on March 3rd, falling 21-9.

Meanwhile, Taylorsville came up short against Northeast Jones on Saturday and fell 7-3.

Trey Barnes was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-3 with three RBI and one triple. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in May of 2024.

Newton's defeat dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Taylorsville, their loss dropped their record down to 7-11.
