Basketball Recap: Gunnison Comes Up Short

Gunnison was the 54-49 winner over Grand Valley when they last played one another back in December of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Gunnison Cowboys fell 60-53 to the Grand Valley Cardinals on Friday.

Grand Valley's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Porter Ostermiller, who went 7 for 12 en route to 19 points. That's the most points Ostermiller has posted since back in February of 2024. Another player making a difference was Andrew Horner, who posted 19 points.

Gunnison has been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-8 record this season. As for Grand Valley, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a massive bump to their 7-10 record this season.

Gunnison has already played their next game (against Cedaredge), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Grand Valley has already played their next match, a 61-55 win against Meeker on the 1st.
