Baseball Game Preview: Centennial Cougars vs. Riverdale Warriors

The Centennial Cougars will venture away from home to face off against the Riverdale Warriors at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.

Wednesday just wasn't the day for Centennial's offense. They fell just short of Summit by a score of 1-0 on Wednesday. The Cougars' defeat signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Asher Moore was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he pitched six innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Centennial saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Luke Dennis, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base.

Meanwhile, Riverdale waltzed into their matchup on Friday with ten straight wins... but they left with 11. They walked away with a 4-1 win over the Patriots.

Riverdale pushed their record up to 22-14 with the victory, which was their sixth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.7 runs on average over those games. As for Centennial, their loss dropped their record down to 12-17.

Centennial came up short against Riverdale in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, falling 7-2. Can the Cougars avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
