Baseball Recap: Harmony Area Has No Trouble Against Ferndale

Harmony Area owes their pitching crew a big pat on the back after their performance on Thursday. They were the clear victors by a 7-0 margin over the Ferndale Yellow Jackets. This was a revenge game for the Owls: when they faced off against the Yellow Jackets back in March, they had to take a 14-3 loss.

The result came thanks to JJ Sward's shutout, as he gave up just three hits and racked up 12 Ks. He is becoming a predictor of Harmony Area's success: when he posts at least ten strikeouts the team is 2-1 (and 3-9 when he doesn't).

At the plate, Hunter Pearce was incredible, going 4-for-5 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Harmony Area is 2-1 when Pearce posts two or more stolen bases, but 3-9 otherwise. Parker Maseto was another key player, going a perfect 1-for-1 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Harmony Area's win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 5-10. As for Ferndale, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-14.

Harmony Area has already played their next game, a 14-2 defeat against Blacklick Valley on the 9th. As for Ferndale, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next match, a 10-0 loss against Westmont Hilltop on the 12th.
