Softball Game Preview: Normal Community Ironmen vs. Normal West Wildcats

The Normal Community Ironmen will take on the Normal West Wildcats at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Normal Community is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last seven games.

The home team had won the previous four meetings between Normal Community and Bloomington Central Catholic, and Normal Community kept the tradition alive. The Ironmen had just enough and edged out the Saints 4-3.

Avery Anderson tossed a big game, tossing five innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Bailey Engel, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

Meanwhile, Normal West didn't have quite enough to beat Olympia on Friday and fell 3-2. The Wildcats haven't had much luck with the Spartans recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.

Rylee Hollings made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one home run, two RBI, and one double.

Normal Community pushed their record up to 11-9 with the victory, which was their seventh straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Normal West, their loss dropped their record down to 7-12.
