Softball Recap: Lowcountry Leadership Snaps Nine-Game Streak of Wins at Home

Lowcountry Leadership fought the good fight in their extra-innings game against Charleston Math & Science on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell 11-6 to the Riptide. NaviGators fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team's lost against the Riptide since on Friday.

Morgan Gaskins was huge no matter where she played even without the win. She struck out seven batters over 3.2 innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances.

In other batting news, Bailee Blome made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-5 with three RBI and one double.

Lowcountry Leadership's defeat ended a nine-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 5-4. As for Charleston Math & Science, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 4-6.

Looking ahead, Lowcountry Leadership will challenge Whale Branch at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Charleston Math & Science, they will square off against Lucy Beckham at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The Riptide's pitchers better be ready for this one: the Bengals have averaged an impressive 6.2 runs per game this season.
