Baseball Recap: Montello Takes a Loss

Montello had lost five straight at home, but on Tuesday they dropped their record down to 5-9 to make it six. They fell just short of the Green Lake/Princeton Tigersharks by a score of 4-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Hilltoppers have suffered since April 30, 2024.

As for Green Lake/Princeton, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 7-6. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win they have posted since April 4th.

For Green Lake/Princeton's part, Deegan McCutcheon spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned runs on eight hits and racked up seven Ks. McCutcheon has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Green Lake/Princeton's victory was truly a team effort as seven different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Kyle Bond, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run. That's the most stolen bases Bond has posted since back in April of 2024.

While Montello had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
