Baseball Recap: Ralls Takes a Loss

Ralls had lost three straight on the road, but on Saturday they dropped their record down to 16-6 to make it four. They lost 8-1 to the Sudan Hornets. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Hornets this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 8-2 on Monday.

As for Sudan, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 17-9. The result was nothing new for the Hornets, who have now won 15 matches by six runs or more so far this season.

For Sudan's part, Caleb Groetken was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He struck out 15 batters over 5.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Those 15 strikeouts gave Groetken a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Julian Salas, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs.

Coming up, Ralls is taking a road trip to take on Colorado at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Wolves have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 11.93 runs per game on average), something the Jackrabbits will no doubt try to take advantage of. Sudan does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
