Volleyball Game Preview: Phoenix Academy Firebirds vs. Winston Salem Christian Lions

The Phoenix Academy Firebirds will venture away from home to square off against the Winston Salem Christian Lions at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.

Last Thursday, Phoenix Academy didn't have quite enough to beat Lexington and fell 3-2. The match marked the Firebirds' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Phoenix Academy took a 2-1 lead headed into the fourth set, but sadly they lost the next two. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 23-25, 25-22, 23-25, 25-17, 15-11.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Winston Salem Christian, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Wednesday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past Varsity Opponent 3-2.

Winston Salem Christian wouldn't go down easily and took Varsity Opponent into a fifth set where they got it done with a three-point win. The match finished with set scores of 25-21, 25-21, 18-25, 23-25, 15-12.

Having lost for the first time this season, Phoenix Academy fell to 5-1. As for Winston Salem Christian, their win bumped their record up to 2-4.

Phoenix Academy skirted past Winston Salem Christian 3-2 in their previous meeting last Tuesday. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Firebirds since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
