Preview: Peabody-Burns Warriors vs. Wakefield Bombers
Peabody-Burns is 1-9 against Wakefield since January of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Peabody-Burns Warriors will head out on the road to face off against the Wakefield Bombers at 6:00 p.m. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Peabody-Burns has struggled recently with 29 losses in a row, while Wakefield will arrive with three straight wins.
Last Tuesday, Peabody-Burns was beaten by Solomon 53-11.
Meanwhile, Wakefield's game on Friday was all tied up 16-16 at the half, but luckily for them it didn't stay that way. They came out on top against Solomon by a score of 37-24.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Wakefield to victory, but perhaps none more so than Grace Rohr, who scored 19 points along with seven rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Rohr has scored all season. Allison Adams was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with seven rebounds and five steals.
Peabody-Burns dropped their record down to 0-13 with that loss, which was their 14th straight at home dating back to last season. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 9.9 points per game. As for Wakefield, their victory bumped their record up to 6-9.
Peabody-Burns couldn't quite finish off Wakefield in their previous matchup back in February of 2023 and fell 2-0. Can Peabody-Burns avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
