Baseball Game Preview: Asheville Christian Academy Lions vs. Gaston Christian Eagles

The Asheville Christian Academy Lions will head out on the road to challenge the Gaston Christian Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Asheville Christian Academy will roll into the match after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up two runs on Monday, then bounced right back against Hickory Christian Academy on Tuesday. The Lions blew past the Knights 10-1. The Lions haven't had any issues with the Knights recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive victory against them.

Meanwhile, Gaston Christian entered their tilt with SouthLake Christian Academy on Thursday with four consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with five. They came out on top against SouthLake Christian Academy by a score of 5-2.

Logan Davis spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned runs on three hits and racked up 12 Ks.

At the plate, Xander Sutton was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and one double. Another player making a difference was Meridian Leffew, who went 2-for-3 with one home run and two runs.

They weren't the only ones working in the home run department: Gaston Christian lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've posted since back in April of 2024.

Gaston Christian's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 15-2. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Asheville Christian Academy, their record is now 7-10.
