Baseball Game Preview: Mitchell Marauders vs. Florence Huskies

Mitchell is 0-4 against Florence since March of 2017 but things could change on Wednesday. The Mitchell Marauders will host the Florence Huskies at 4:00 p.m.

Mitchell is headed into Wednesday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their 11th straight game dating back to last season on Saturday. They came up short against Harrison, falling 12-2.

Mitchell saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Adal (Benjamin) Lujano, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI.

Meanwhile, everything went Florence's way against South Park on Friday as Florence made off with a 20-3 win. That's two games straight that the Huskies have won by exactly 17 runs.

Makai Hight made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out seven batters over four innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off three hits. That's the fewest hits he has allowed since back in April of 2024. He was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing Five bases. while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in stolen bases.

In other batting news, Brenan Lambert was a standout: he got on base in all four of his plate appearances with four runs, four RBI, and two doubles. Those two doubles gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Shane Harvey, who scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.

The victory made it two in a row for Florence and bumps their season record up to a perfect 2-0. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 17 runs. As for Mitchell, their loss dropped their record down to 0-3.
