Basketball Game Preview: Oasis Sharks vs. Cape Coral Seahawks

The Oasis Sharks will head out to take on the Cape Coral Seahawks at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Oasis' favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last three matches.

Oasis is headed into the game after thoroughly thrashing Canterbury: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Oasis blew Canterbury out of the water with a 70-35 final score. Given the Sharks' advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 298th, while the Cougars are ranked 661st), the result on Thursday wasn't entirely unexpected.

Oasis can attribute much of their success to Owen Skistad, who went 6 of 11 on his way to 18 points along with five rebounds and three steals, and Austin Louzao, who posted 16 points and four steals. Louzao continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Llyod Baptiste, who went 5 for 7 en route to 11 points.

Oasis smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in four consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Cape Coral). They strolled past Dunbar with points to spare on Friday, taking the game 79-65.

Cape Coral has also been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 17-3 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.4 points per game. As for Oasis, their record is now 13-7.

Oasis beat Cape Coral 48-35 when the teams last played back in December of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for Oasis since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
