Basketball Recap: Altavista Takes a Loss

Altavista was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their 11th straight defeat dating back to last season. They were dealt a 61-29 loss at the hands of the Heritage Pioneers. The Colonels were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 35-9.

Leading Heritage to victory were Tailor Coles and Marissa Allen. Coles dropped a triple-double on 17 points, 12 rebounds, and ten assists, while Allen posted 20 points. Those ten assists gave Coles a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Dy'Nzah Alexander, who put up eight points and eight rebounds.

Altavista's defeat dropped their record down to 0-8. As for Heritage, their victory ended a 13-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-7.

Altavista and Dan River will face off at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday without much rest having both just played. As for Heritage, they will head out on the road to face off against Rustburg at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
