Baseball Game Preview: Devon Prep Tide vs. St. Joseph's Prep Hawks

For the first time this season, Devon Prep will have a chance to prove themselves in a conference matchup. They will take on the St. Joseph's Prep Hawks at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Devon Prep has now lost seven straight dating back to last season, leaving the team hunting for their first win since April 29.

Last Monday, Devon Prep didn't have quite enough to beat Shipley and fell 3-2.

Chase Lubker put in work no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-low in walks (zero). He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and one RBI. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high.

Lubker wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Caleb Flannery, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.

Meanwhile, it was close, but last Friday St. Joseph's Prep sidestepped Iona Prep for a 4-3 victory.

Devon Prep's defeat dropped their record down to 0-3. As for St. Joseph's Prep, the win got them back to even at 1-1.

Devon Prep couldn't quite get it done against St. Joseph's Prep when the teams last played back in May of 2024 as they fell 10-6. Can Devon Prep avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
